Scott Le vs Cameron Flores

Edit: Bringing this post to the front page since I’ve been seeing a lot of interest in the story over the past few days.

—–

A 14 year old kid named Scott recently transferred to a new school where he knew no one. He was eventually picked on by the “toughest” bully in the school, and stood up for himself: Scott told Cameron to meet him after school to settle things.

As they were preparing for the fight, dozens of onlookers called Scott racist names, say he’s going to get beat, and spit on him. The video joins the action when Scott, probably 5′5″ 140lbs, squares off with Cameron, probably 5′8″ 170lbs:

Full Version (foul language and fighting)

Kids fighting always made me cringe; the typical spark for such fights were almost always ridiculous. This one was probably no different. Yet, I’m torn.

My emotions lead me to identify with Scott, having been bullied through elementary school and feeling threatened through junior high and high school. This side of me tells me that the bully got what he deserved and that I wish I could have handled myself like that when I was a kid. I don’t even feel bad for Cameron when he gets hit from behind. In fact, while I first saw that as an uncalled-for cheap shot, I realized that Cameron was being extremely proud in thinking that he dictates when the fight is over–that once he turns his back, everything stops because he’s the man. I saw it more and more as an underhanded, wordless insult.

On the other hand, my core beliefs as a Christian lead me to remember that I shouldn’t feel this way at all. If I were to come alongside Scott (or myself when I was 14), I would say that it’s better to take the insults and bullying, then forgive and love*. A classic example of easier said than done =p

So here I am, feeling proud of Scott and feeling guilty for feeling proud of him. My conclusion from all this? I still haven’t grown up.

* I do believe in defending oneself physically if needed, but I consider that to be a last resort, even behind running away. Note further that it’s easy for me to put fighting as a last resort because I’d probably get owned in any fight =]

Edit: Here is the story from Scott’s brother:

Sup guys. Scotts big bro here, using Bruised lee’s account.

Ok, i’m gonna clear up misconceptions and answer questions of the top of my head just cuz. Its late so bare with me.

The fight wasnt racially motivated, so dont think of it as a asian vs white kid fight. More of a shy new kid vs bully fight.

Scott makes the decision to transfer to a different school (camas) to wrestle for them. Kids at camas hear rumors of scott transferring. In high school, everybody thinks they can fight, and at camas there were rumors that scott was a fighter (cuz he got in a bunch of fights at the local movie theatre, etc), so he was more or less know as “The kid from mt. view hs that can fight blah blah.”

So here scott is, in the process of transferring to camas. The whole process happens to take a whole week. On day one of the transfer process, kids at Camas are gawking at him (Thats the new kid thats supposed to transfer!). Cameron (white kid) gets the word and immediately confronts scott and says “Yo, I hear you can fight. I’ll whoop your ass. Lets fight.” Scott (who really is a nice kid believe it or not lol) replies “No, I cant get in trouble. I’m transferring here to wrestle.”

During the week long transfer process, the school administration kept telling us different info about when exactly scott would be an official student so he just showed up everyday for a week but had to be sent home. On several occasions during the week, the bully calls scott out. He comes home to tell me that there is some random ass kid that is 16 years old and is pretty big wants to fight him. “Tell him, ‘You’re not worth it.’”

So finally the next monday rolls around. Scotts first day at the new school. Second week of wrestling (he had already missed the first week because of the transfer bullshit). He goes on about his day and its all gravy until his last class. Here comes the big bad bully. Bully eggs him on, calls him a ***got and a p***y for not wanting to fight, throws a couple of racial slurs in ( i dont blame him, when you’re trying to hate on someone, u gotta use everything you got right? lol). Finally Scott has a enough and agrees to the fight.

2:15 rolls around and I get a phone call. Its my brother.

“Yo, Richard, I’m about to get in a fight. Do you wanna watch?”

“Meng, I’m at work.”

“Oh……. ok.”

“Dont get in trouble. Good luck.”

And you guys saw what happened from there. This fight happened the monday before thanksgiving and thanksgiving break. He gets like 8 days suspension, which ended up being like a 14 days suspension because of the break. So he misses like 3 weeks of wrestling which really sucked because he was really excited about wrestling in high school.

Anyways, i think the two kids are on good terms now so DONT message the bully kid on his myspace telling him he got owned lmao.

random info:
*scott has zero formal boxing or mma training, he’s a wrestler but we spar and hit pads in the garage.

*he IS 14. doesnt turn 15 till july so he’s a young freshman.

*i’d say his physique is mostly developed from wrestling. almost all good wrestlers have freakish strength in a sheepish package. we do a lot of pull ups and pushups on parallettes. He does ZERO ab work lol.

*diet is nothing special. of course its healthy in season, other its rice + meat + soy sauce. lots of green tea. lots of oreos. lots of cheeze its, ritz, doritoes, its all gravy. he loves muscle milk, doesnt do other supps though.

*vietMANese.

*the fight was captured using his own camera. He went up to a random kid (who happened to be the bully’s friend) and said, “Can you record this for me?”

*The teeth getting ko’d wasnt from that last punch. It was from a straight shot that wasnt captured on the cam. Look at the pic of the kids grill and notice the way the bottom braces are formed in the shape of a knuckle. Scotts hands were torns and bloody from that.

uhhh.. uh… i don’t know what to think.

  2. Rod Says:

Very impressive. I like how he calmly went into the fight after tying his shoes. For someone with no MMA training, he did very well. Kudos for shutting the bully (and his jerk friends) up!!!!

  3. carlos Says:

yo that was awesome i really hope this wont have a mental effect on the bully though scott is awesome

  4. Man Says:

  7. dont beleive the story Says:

scott or whatever his name is did really well, but i dont beleive this story

  8. Scott Says:

Pieces of shit like that deserve to have the shit beat out of them…….the biggest fag was the kid with the camera….mouthing off….you should have beat his ass too. way to stick up for yourself man.

  9. Danila Says:

YES ! GOOD JOB Scott .
Way to go ! Fucked that kid up big time !
He is like me when i was 15 , got in to a bunch of fights .. well i didnt brake anyones jaw BUT ITS SOO FUCKING GOOD TO SEE SOMEONE BRAKE ONE !!!! YEA ! Go SCOTT !!!

  10. fellow viet Says:

good fucking shit bro, u did ur thing

  11. prgmmer Says:

Don’t see what’s so special about this story. Every once in awhile, some little guy will show up and bust up the bully.
Still ,the moral of this story is that even tho Scott won, he lost, cause he lost 3 weeks of wrestling practice.

  13. Ben Says:

For you white folks out there, one thing you could not understand is the racial discrimination that we Asians get, you have no idea what kind of shit we endure because some people is just so ignorant and narrow minded. sometime we fight because we just couldnt play along with their so call “joke” its not a joke it is in fact very very rude. we dont take pride in physical voilent, hence scott just took in most of the insults until its just too much to bare. Eurocentrism is so last century, grow up!

  14. Dean Says:

I think applying religion in this situation is tough. I would not tell Scott that he should turn his other cheek. Its hard to take that kind of harassment and still have a healthy and functional childhood. This is the kind of thing that makes or breaks you for the rest of your life.

Its hard to say whether this was right or wrong. On one hand, violence is not the wisest decision. On the other hand, Scott has earned the respect of many people at the school, especially from the bully. They’re friends now. How’s that for a surprise ending.

I do know that my decision to fight when I was younger played a part in making me a healthier person. Now as an adult, I’m able to turn the other cheek most of the time and still laugh about it. I cant say that violence is wise, but its hard for me to say its wrong.

  15. AnhTung Says:

thats terrible strenght there scott good job

  16. Anonymous Says:

if i knew any of those kids there (except scott) i would shit in there mouths

  17. jim Says:

first off.. i’m asian (korean) and u can tell by scott’s punches that he has no formal mma/boxing training….he would of hurt the other kid far worst

what i surmise through the video is that he went in for the first couple punches… and in most cases, those that don’t know how to fight, who get hit will go into a defensive backword motion, and that’s what he(white kid) did….and with scott’s wrestling background was able to use his hip and toss him…get a few more wild punches in and the white kid was done

as for the cheap shot….no such thing in a street brawl…..at least scott didn’t get jumped by all the other kids…earned some respect along the way

before someone questions my insight….i have trained in shootfighting, braz jiu, tae kwon do, hapkido, and other cross training in japan, brazil, korea and have faught in K1, Pride, and cage fights….

best to walk away from any fight….but at least no guns or weapons were used

  18. Adeel Anwar Says:

ROFL good fucking job dude, that kid was a fucking pussy but if you used your hips on your punches too instead of just your wrestling moves you would of raped him. Good job.

  19. Nick Says:

Agree 100% with dean. As a kid I was always bullied around, ironically I was always the tallest and biggest kid in my class. My dad told me that if anybody gives you gruff, get them in a headlock and tell them if they ever say another thing to you again you’re going to beat the dog shit out of them, and that you would never have to throw actual fists doing this. This has never failed to work (although once somebody did cheapshot me after I said it and I beat the crap out of him so I guess it kind of worked out).

Fighting isn’t the best solution, but with kids it is a solution and actually does solve problems.

  20. Pak Says:

    Scott i feel ya
    good job bud
i did the same in hs so i can relate to you bro!

  21. Andy Wood Says:

Bruised lee.. lol.. his hand speed is impressive, he should consider the noble sport of boxing.

  22. cMack Says:

Yo. Good fuckin work. Plain and simple.

  23. Anonymous Says:

Listen guys , instead of fuking encouragin these stupid and bloddy high school fights, we should find apprpriate solutions for this problem.

Its not a big deal in fighting and breaking somebody’s face even though he bullied you ……you could have gone to principal or someother helpline.

Looks to me like you guys are in some school that only produces criminals . Shame on you .

And brother of Scott ….its good that you are encoruaging how your brother did and I cannot see you when he ‘ll be behind bars somewhere . Being fukin elders when he called you ….you could have informed the school authorities or some responsible person. But you looks be really ignorant and ready to see future full of worries.

No hard feeelings guys, its not I am with someone or against, its just I see so many encouraging coments which could have given some words to stop this kind os school fights.

    …………………Stop School Fights…………………

  24. Anonymous 2 Says:

dude thats like the same as saying… stop crime, stop war, stop drugs… its the real world, not everything is gonna get resolved so easily, its much easier said than done. like it or not fights are gonna happen… and ppl will enjoy it.

sorry but its sex, violence, and drugs ftw everytime.

  25. Den Says:

AHAHAHAH he reminds me of myself when i was little… the quiet one that loves getting into fights… never started any shit but… sure did get into a lot cuzz they thought i could be bullied

  26. Anonymous Says:

kids will be kids… they will learn once they grow up… they can learn the hard way.. just like the bully did

  27. Donkie dick Says:

puhhahah , GOOD FU CKIN JOB SCOTT, THAT WHITE TRASH GOT HIS ASS POONED!!

  28. Jet Says:

It’s good to know they are both friends now..
The end punch was.. *shrug*.. all I can say is learn to fight and learn the street rules… eg. No rules.

You don’t turn your back in a fight just cause YOU think it’s over.. it’s ain’t over till both the parties agree.. lesson learn.

I used to get picked on when I moved to Singapore but the son of the Education Minister.. and also the son of this RICH guy that own a Ferrari..

Took their shit for 2 months.. made myself known and took them on one at a time till they end up crying.. ALWAY stand up to bully..

  29. Ronnie Says:

dude scott that was cool staying relax you can tell cameron was fuckin scared.i encountered bully when i was in jr high. big ass bicth hit me on the head cause he just felt it,wanna be cholo.he tought i was going to cry, drop my bag went up a 4ft handicap ramp picked up a metal trash can and bash his head.bitch cryed like a lil girl.he told on me. got suspended for 2 weeks i didnt care fool scared of me even in high school.

  30. Ben Says:

Man….. Ijust hope i’m friends with someone like scott when i go to highschool.

  31. Ben Says:

Hey, its me again well i wanna know how scott’s fist were torn up

  32. Scott OWNED Him LMAO Says:

Big ups to Scott… fu*k bullies. He got what he deserved.

  33. Gabriel Says:

Bullies do not belong to our gene pull. Scott should had killed the bully’s balls into mush.

  34. Gabriel Says:

Bullies do not belong to our gene pull. Scott should had kicked the bully’s balls into mush.

  35. cameron Says:

anyone have cameron’s myspace url? who was the idiot that was cheering cameron on? scott needs to f*ck him up as well.

  36. Anonymous Says:

“Listen guys , instead of fuking encouragin these stupid and bloddy high school fights, we should find apprpriate solutions for this problem.”

You obviously live on another planet, ghandi. Scott didn’t ask for the fight and even when he was challenged, as his brother said, he declined.

“Its not a big deal in fighting and breaking somebody’s face even though he bullied you ……you could have gone to principal or someother helpline.”

Another idiotic statement. If you tell someone like a principle, the teasing and bullying will only get much worse. I’m glad Scott destroyed this kid and I hope this video spreads so everyone in high school can see it. Instead of preaching your non-violence bull crap to kids like Scott why don’t you go preach non-bullying to scumbags like Cameron.

  37. AznMikeTason Says:

Damnz home boy you sure did fuked em up though. Nice speed and strenght. The bully guy never had a chance. I like how you were calm and jumping around. I think you knew what you were doing. lmao. That why you dont judge the book by it cover. Woot that last punch probably mad him cried. hahaaaa.. and his friend with the rasical profiling I would have fuked him up myself within 3 punches. Nicely done. Shut the white boy up for good. White boys can ‘t fight for shit so dont start shit. We asain are born fighting.

  38. DrunkenBastard Says:

Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

  39. homer Says:

Hang in there, Cameron. The posts are as brutal as your well-deserved ass kicking, but those who wrote will evetually find someone else to hate. Meanwhile, you could could give up bullying and try to make friends with those who have been picked on. You should thank Scott for not making you his bitch after the fight.

  40. other Says:

    Cameron’s latino, not white.

  41. Statz Says:

First, it was a beating, not a fight. Cameron was just a punching bag. Second, Cameron’s not a white boy. He’s Mexican. Third, walking away was smart, not gutless. Cameron’s jaw had been broken and teeth knocked loose. He could have been beaten to a pulp. Fourth, Cameron’s more than just a couple inches taller than Scott. He had a big height and reach advantage over the guy who whooped his ass.

  42. Anonymous Says:

his jaw wasnt broken. just to let you know

  43. Oh man Says:

Its one thing to be cool in highschool ..but trying to make fun of someone and then getting your arse kicked for it? LMAO

As a fellow asian I am proud to see Scott Le fuck that dude UP!!!

  47. Andrey Says:

  48. cameron is geyyyy Says:

VIET PRIDE! lol. but my boy scott messssed that kid up. did you see camerons myspace though? it says “i can kick your boyfriends ass” in his about me. i would NOT put that while the whole internet has acces to that info, and that video was released, makes him look like a total tool. wow.
